How To Stay Cool This Summer

Reno and Tahoe can get hot! Especially in these Summer months! Here are some tips to help you and your family stay cool this summer!

For Your Dog!

Fill up a bowl with Water and add toys, carrots, their favorite treats and anything else they love and freeze it overnight. The next day put it out in the yard to entertain your dog for the rest of the day, plus it will keep them cool!

Have a kiddie pool? Grab some bags of ice and fill up the kiddie pool! Your dog will love it!

Kids:

DIY Sprinkler: Clean out a two liter bottle and poke holes in it using either a knife or scissors. Attach it to the end of the hose and you have a sprinkler!

PVC Pipes are amazing as well! Poke holes in the pipes and attach them any way you like, you can create your whole back yard into a water park! Just put the PVC Pipes together, poke some holes, attach the hose to it and you have a water park!
You can even have the kids help you set it up!!

Summer is officially here! Enjoy it Reno!

DIY Bug Repellent

The weather is finally beginning to warm up and soon it will be summer! And that means more annoying bugs! As the weather warms up you might want to prop your business doors open, but that lets in flies and even worse mosquitos. Maybe you own a restaurant and need to keep the bugs away from your patio tables?

Here are some Do It Yourself Natural bug repellent for you to use around the home and your business!

Spider Repellent:
Nobody likes spiders, especially customers. Here is a natural way to repel the 8 legged creatures
Grab a Spray bottle and insert 15 drops Peppermint Oil
1 tsp Dish Soap (free and clear). Spiders hate peppermint so even a few peppermint plants around the store or your home will help scare them off.

Wasp Trap:
Grab an empty liter plastic bottle
1) Cut the neck off the liter bottle
2) Remove the bottle cap and flip the neck upside down and place it in the bottle opening that you just cut.
3) Tape together using packing tape or duct tape.
4) Bait the trap. The easiest is sugar and water, water and vinegar, beer or soda. Add cooking oil along the steep edges of the trap to help lose their footing and fall into the hole.
5) Hang the trap by either taping a string to it, or affixing a screw that you can use to hang.
6) Empty the trap - but first make sure the wasps are dead by pouring boiling water in.

Mosquitos:
The best way to repel mosquitos is citronella, you can get tiki torches to go around your backyard or get candles to sit on the tables of your restaurant.

You can also use plants!
Sit these plants outside your store or yard to repel mosquitos.
  Lavender
Lemon Balm
Catnip
Marigolds
Peppermint
Rosemary
Basil
